Yokogawa Electric Corporation announced that Yokogawa Electric Group's greenhouse gas emission reduction target
for 2030 has been certified as a scientific carbon target by the Scientific Carbon Target Initiative (SBTi),
in line with the Paris Agreement's goal of "controlling the increase in global average temperature from pre industrial
levels within 2 ℃ and striving to control warming within 1.5 ℃".The Science Carbon Target Initiative was jointly established
by the CDP International non-profit organization, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI),
and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). It aims to promote enterprises to establish scientifically based greenhouse
gas emission targets to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Yokogawa Electric Group's greenhouse gas emission reduction targets
According to the priorities of the "Accelerate Growth 2023" medium-term business plan released in the 2021 fiscal year,
Yokogawa Electric has established medium to long-term sustainable development goals to be achieved by 2030.
The goal of Yokogawa Electric Group is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 50% from the
level in 2019 by fiscal year 2030. This is in line with the 1.5 ℃ level specified in the Paris Agreement.
We have also set a goal of achieving net zero emissions across the entire group by the fiscal year 2040.
Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the supply chain (Scope 3) by 30% from the 2019 level by fiscal year 2030.
Measures taken by Yokogawa Electric Group to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
In order to achieve greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, Yokogawa Electric Group is taking measures throughout the group,
including switching to renewable energy for power generation and operating internal carbon pricing plans. All electricity used by
Yokogawa Corporation and Yokogawa Manufacturing Corporation's Kogen factory comes from renewable energy, and other group
companies are also considering doing so. The measures taken by the headquarters and group companies located in China,the Netherlands,
Bahrain, Germany, Singapore, and Japan include the introduction of solar power generation systems and the shift from gasoline vehicles
to electric vehicles. In addition, Yokogawa Electric also provides energy-saving solutions for customers' factories and offices,
as well as solutions for optimizing renewable energy factories and battery energy management.
Yokogawa Electric will continue to strive to achieve a decarbonization society,reduce greenhouse gas
emissions for the entire group, and provide solutions that help reduce customer greenhouse gas emissions.
